This was really interesting, thank you for a great episode. Didn’t know about the 49 day trip to 極楽. I thought one perhaps was reincarnated immediately at the moment of death according to Buddhism.

I didn’t know about the 49 day trip either. According to Buddhism, it’s said a person becomes 霊 when they die, and becomes 仏 on the 49th day when they get to 極楽.
